Just a over a month after reshuffling cabinet, President Koroma has appointed other people to serve as sector coordinators to the dismay of many Sierra Leoneans who believe that the appointment is a waste of resources
“The first phase of the President’s Recovery Priorities programme has been successfully completed and as we enter the second phase of the programme, it has pleased His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma to make the following Delivery Team Sector Coordinators appointments…”, the report revealed.
Among the people appointed are: Dr. Clifford Kamara, Sector Coordinator in the Ministry of Health, Miatta Kagrbo, the sacked Minister of Health as Social Protection Officer in the National Commission for Social Action (NACSA) , Dr. Mariatu Turay-Rhodes as Social Protection Coordinator in the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children Affairs; Leslie Scott as Private Sector Development Coordinator in the Ministry of Agriculture and Oluniyi Robbin-Coker, sacked Minister of Energy as Private Sector Development Coordinator in Ministry Trade and Industry,
Millicent Lewis-Ojumu as Coordinator in the Ministry of Energy, Dauda Wurie as coordinator in the Ministry of Water Resources and Jeanette Eno as Governance Coordinator in the Anti Corruption Commission and Sierra Leone Port Authority
“Kindly note that the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology Dr. Christiana Thorpe will retain her Sector Coordinator responsibilities for the Education Sector,” the Press Release continued
According to the Press Release, the recruitment process is underway for the engagement of Key Results Area (KRA) Facilitators who will join the Sector Coordinators to support each MDA’s internal delivery arrangements.
“Both the Sector Coordinators and KRA Facilitators are to be based within the respective MDAs.
In this regard, the MDAs are to provide at least a shared office space for them while we provide furniture, equipment and supplies,” the report added
According to the Release which was signed by the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, “they trust that these Sector Coordinators and KRA Facilitators are assured of your full support and cooperation as the Delivery Team continues to work with you to advance this very important programme.”
Meanwhile Political Observers have said that there is no need for such appointments as the country economy is currently in a junk state and that this is a clear indication that the President is running an expanded Government.
