Four (4) Sierra Leoneans, sponsored and cosponsored by the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration to further studies at the Regional Maritime University in Ghana on June 21st 2017 called on the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration Executive Director, Alhaji Wurroh Jalloh and presented their certificates to him.
Among the four(4) are two(2), Raju Gidwani and Nabieu Bangura, who presented their certificates to the Executive Director and were amongst the four hundred and forty two (442) students that recently graduated at the Regional Maritime University on the 10th June 2017. They both graduated with Bsc Nautical Science (Hons), Second Class Upper. The other two(2) are presently pursuing their studies in Ghana.
The students expressed thanks and appreciation to the Executive Director of SLMA for the support given towards their academic pursuits.
Addressing the students, the Executive Director expressed appreciation, given the outstanding performance of the students, thus bringing honor not only to the Administration and Sierra Leone Ports Authority, but to the country as a whole.
He admonished those presently furthering their studies to pay maximum attention and assured them of the Administration’s unflinching support towards their education.
The two students (Raju Gidwani and Nabieu Bangura) who presented their degrees to the Executive Director will have the chance to work at either the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration or Sierra Leone Ports Authority, whilst the existing students will be fully employed by both institutions upon their graduation.
It’s worthy to note that the SLMA is not only sponsoring some of these students, but together with the Sierra Leone Ports Authority has been making regular contributions to enhance the financial sustainability and infrastructural development of the University’s vision in Ghana.
The hard working and result oriented Executive Director is not only supporting students to be grounded on Maritime affairs, but has greatly upheld the Administration’s mandate which is very much evident in the drastic decline in sea accidents within the country’s territorial waters.
