SALONE JUDICIARY QUESTIONED

Firebrand Politician and Leader of the Alliance Democratic Party, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has questioned the independence of the judiciary of Sierra Leone.

“I have no faith in the judiciary under the ruling All Peoples Congress Government,” Kamarainba affirmed.

He made this statement while exposing the fact the construction of a 7 storey building by the Chinese for the ruling All People Congress Party contravenes Sierra Leone’s local law.

Kamarainba explained that the matter he brought to the judiciary concerning the former Minister of Information and Communication who is now a Member of Parliament for contesting an election for which he failed to resigned his position as public officer, which according to him has been in court for the past 6 month for no considerable reasons.

This is not the first time the Judiciary has come under serious questioned statesmen.

In 2010, the former Anti Corruption Commissioner now the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara said that his confidence in the judiciary has been shaken to the core.

After the recent supreme court decision to uphold the action of President Koroma to sack his former Vice President Samuel Sam Sumana, the judiciary came under serious questioning again.

People including the lawyer of Sam Sumana questioned the motive of giving brand new jeeps to judges while the trial was going on.
