Last Thursday 1st of March 2018, Sierra Leone’s front runner mobile company Orange opened new site in Gorama Mende Chiefdom in the Kenema District.
James Ballar, regional sales manager Orange said he is happy that Orange has brought communication to Gorama Mende Chiefdom.
That it has been a long time that the people of that chiefdom have been waiting for such opportunity.
Mariama Tarawally, councillor of Gorama Mende chiefdom expresses happiness over communication facilities availed them by Orange.
She said they for long time been the laughing stock of friends on issues explaining mobile communication in the chiefdom.
Joseph Sengu Koroma, chiefdom speaker Gorama Mende Chiefdom said they are the first to have communication Network in the whole of Modema section.
He explained nonetheless that before now when they want to mobile calls, they will have to go into the forest to enable them get signal, but thanked Orange for bringing them the technology it takes to make calls easy and at will.
Moses Joe Harding, section chief of Gorama chiefdom said the youths in the chiefdom are very excited for the facility and therefore thanked Orange for the great opportunity given them.
He pointed out that the lack of communication has made them lost many opportunities in the chiefdom.
He expressed hope that with such a facility will bring home more goodies to the chiefdom.
Hafi Hafna, company secretary and chief legal officer who represents the CEO of Orange said it was in July 2016 that Orange decided to fix communication Network of the company nationwide.
That in doing so they (Orange) set aside 33 million dollars so the work can be professionally and perfectly done.
She pointed out that the company bought 250 sites from Airtel, changed Generators, relocated Data centers at Spur Road to the main site.
She further said that they changed switches and internet facilities too.
This, she said, is the reason for now is perfectly working internet system.
She claimed Orange has built 45 sites and 185 new villages have got coverage.
She told the people of Mondema section that Orange has spent one hundred US Dollars to put up the sites in the chiefdom and advised them to take good care of new communication poles.
She stated that Orange has reduced the Data price to 58% and it is the cheapest Data.
“Orange is here to stay in Sierra Leone and we are here for the people of Sierra Leone,” she said.
