Court files at the Freetown Siaka Steven Street Court No1 has reported that over One hundred million Leones have been missing in Sierra Leone Commercial Bank’s Lightfoot Boston Street Branch in Freetown.
Presiding magistrate of Siaka Stevens Street’s Court No1, Magistrate Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara on Friday 31st March 2017, thrown into jail, Justicia Allie on an alleged crime of forgery and larceny contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
The particular of offense states that Justicia Allie on diverse dates last year at Lightfoot Boston Street in Freetown, with intent to defraud, forged certain documents to wit are withdrawal slips to have been prepared and signed by Justice Umu Hawa Tejan Jalloh knowing to be false.
It was also stated that while being servant at Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited, the accused stole an accumulated sum of one hundred and ten million, five hundred thousand Leones (Le110, 500, 000) from the bank.
Justicia Allie was taken to court on 56 relative count charges of forgery contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the forgery act of 1913 and also Larceny by servant contrary to section 17(1)(a) of the larceny act of 1916 respectively.
Even though the defense counsel applied for bail on the grounds that the accused is a Sierra Leonean and that the accused have reliable sureties that can bail and cannot interfere with the prosecution witnesses, the accused was refused bail and thrown into jail till 6th April 2017.
