Fire victims at Susan’s Bay are presently facing deplorable condition as 100s of houses were destroyed by an inferno.
Although food item and domestic items continue to be the focus of the humanitarian organizations such as Save the Children, WFP and others, plenty of the victims report that food is an obvious necessity but that their most pressing need is bedding.
A task force member of the community identified to SALONE TIMES, some of the areas, the people are currently sleeping particularly women and children.
“By now blankets and even temporary and safe shelter are kind of assistance we require. We are expecting the rains will start to fall soon,” the people requested
The social suffering in the community is heart-rending but a local organization, Social Workers Sierra Leone (SWSL) and the community task force are working together to minimize the risk.
Effective psychological support, especially in the areas of clothing and school materials to reinstate normalcy are yet to reach them and parent are finding it difficult to replace much-needed school items lost in the fire and are missing out on vital education.
