Reports reaching New Age Newspaper revealed how the Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) literally scolded and brutally fought SLPP’s Public Secretary, Lahai Leema.
This happened at the headquarter office of CID yesterday 13 November.
That even lawyers representing Leema were not spared rough treatment by the police at their headquarters.
The report indicates that a certain CID personnel commonly called Sergeant 99, just about the arrival of Leema at the CID, quickly took out a warrant of arrest document in his possession, showed it to him (Leema) and said, “Leema, you are under arrest.”
It was at this instant point that the Deputy CID Boss, Superintendent Sana Sesay grabbed him by his trousers forcefully taking him to one of the offices at the CID.
They say complaints against Leema were made by SLBC’s Reginald Strasser King, the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication, Cornelius Devaux and the Southern Regional APC Publicity Secretary, Franklyn Rodgers respectively.
It was revealed that the Deputy Internal Affairs Minister, Ishmail Sengu Koroma was at the CID to make a statement against Leema too.
Meanwhile, Prince Alex Harding, Chairman of Opposition SLPP told journalists outside the CID Headquarters that allegations against their Publicity Secretary was that he assaulted two staff of the national broadcasting corporation (SLBC) and insulted the President, Ernest Bai Koroma.
He explained that the ruling party knows that they are losing the elections contest and as such have resorted to intimidation.
Letter sent to the national secretary general of the opposition SLPP relate to the fact that the police had inviting Leema to answer to allegations of trespass and other offences at the CID.
The letter has certainly not made mention of an arrest warrant put in force against the SLPP publicity secretary.
