Police sources say there is pending shake-up within ranks of the Sierra Leone Police after it was proven that over 100 senior police officers have reached retirement age 60.
The mass retirement is likely to make room for swift transfers as those to be promoted would be made heads of departments, units, operation and as Local Unit Commanders (LUCs) across the country.
In line with recruitment and retirement age of civil servants and public officials, starting September to December 2018, 129 police officers including superintendents, Inspectors and Sergeants will be retiring.
Once the aforementioned categories of officers retired, same will continue in terms of transfers at divisional level to station and posts.
With the Bio led SLPP government, some senior police officers have been at once transferred for obvious reasons including then Regional Commander East, AIG Karrow Kamara and AIG Memunatu Konteh Jalloh to police headquarters respectively.
