As Bendu Sent On Leave… President’s In-Law Heads SLRSA

By Alieu Kondoh

Following the unpleasant development at SLRSA involving the then Executive Director Dr. Sarah Bendu and the Minister of Transport and Aviation Leonard Balogun Koroma, Dr. Sarah Bendu has been replaced by her deputy Memunatu Koroma who is the wife of one of the brothers of the President.

Speaking at a SLRSA staff meeting, the chairman of the Board of Directors SLRSA Rev. Micheal Samura noted that since his appointment as Board Chairman of SLRSA, he has faced enormous challenges by the Executive Director and the persistent intervention of her husband Dalton Bendu in the affairs of the authority.

Rev. Samura mentioned some failures of the Executive Director in the disbursement of funds, the delay in giving staff benefits and failure to comply with labour laws, dismissal of personnel without due process.

He said Dr. Bendu terminated the services of the Head of Finance without the approval of the board and she has failed in implementing National Road Safety Policy.

The Board Chairman also noted the extravagant spending without board approval by the Executive Director, adding that; “Dr. Bendu has not been meeting the target set by the Board and that she has also not been running the authority in the interest of the country but as a one man show.”

Rev. Samura concluded that there is the interference of the Executive Director’s husband in all aspect of the authority which he said is a total display of disrespect for the authority.

President in Law, Memunatu Koroma thanked the Minister of Transport and Aviation, the Board Chairman and members of the board for this rare privilege to serve in the capacity of Acting Executive Director for such an important agency of the government and people of Sierra Leone.

She said the challenge will be compelling and demanding but together with his colleague they will overcome and excel in spite of the odds.

She said that her first focus will be to restore staff morale and reassure all members of staff that the days ahead will be better than the days behind them.

The wife of the President’s Brother said that she intends to build a team whose hallmark will be transparent, accountable and professional service delivery.

She assured that she will ensure appropriate resource planning and improved revenue returns to the coffers of the government and the people of Sierra Leone.

The Minister of Transport and Aviation Leonard Balogun Koroma in his statement said he is here to introduce the new Acting Executive Director, SLRSA and address other issues that need clarification.

The Minister said that it is unfortunate that the erstwhile Executive Director decided to take the path of defiance of the Board of Directors following the issuance of leave notification letter by the SLRSA Board on Wednesday 20th December 2017.

He said Dr. Bendu called a press conference where she lambasted the government with unfounded allegation bordering on incitement of SLRSA workers, barricading her office and attempting to take away sensitive government document which prompted the Board to send her on indefinite leave.

Balogun congratulated his boss’ in law on behalf of the Ministry for her elevation with the expectation that she will live up to the high expectation expected of her.

”A WISE SPEECH FOR ROTTEN SALONE AND IT’S TOTALLY ROTTEN WARPED APE LEADERSHIP”… SO MUCH FROM OUR DISCREDITED, BANKRUPT AND ABANDONED TIMID ”intellectual parasites” we have in that CURSEDLAND.

A SPEECH BY BOBBY KENNEDY FOR ALL OF HUMANITY, FOR ALL NATIONS AND FOR ALL TIMES.

The speech opens with these lines….

This is a time of shame and sorrow. It is not a day for politics. I have saved this one opportunity to speak briefly to you about this mindless menace of violence, gross corruption and gross incompetency in Africa which again stains our land and every one of our lives.

It is not the concern of any one tribe. The victims of the violence are black and white, rich and poor, young and old, famous and unknown. They are, most important of all, human beings whom other human beings loved and needed. No one – no matter where he lives or what he does – can be certain who will suffer from some senseless act of stealing, bloodshed and corruption. And yet it goes on and on up to this last minutes in ernest koroma’s government.

Why? What has violence/corruption/incompetent whole sale, ever accomplished? What has it ever created? No martyr’s/thief cause has ever been stilled by his assassin’s bullet.

No wrongs have ever been righted by riots and civil disorders. A sniper is only a coward, not a hero; and an uncontrolled, uncontrollable mob is only the voice of madness, not the voice of the people, the whole sales of the country’s resources to themselves and in cohort with Lebanese for personal wealth……While the little
sierra Leonean children suffer from hunger, lack of medicines, lack of schools and just lack of everything.

”For there is another kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions; indifference and inaction and slow decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. This is a slow destruction of a child by hunger, and schools without books and homes without heat in the winter”.

”This is the breaking of a man’s spirit by denying him the chance to stand as a father and as a man among other men. And this too afflicts us all. I have not come here to propose a set of specific remedies nor is there a single set. For a broad and adequate outline we know what must be done”.

When you teach a man to hate and fear his brother, when you teach that he is a lesser man because of his color or his beliefs or the policies he pursues or of his education, when you teach that those who differ from you threaten your freedom or your job or your family, then you also learn to confront others ”not as fellow citizens but as enemies” – to be met not with cooperation but with conquest, to be subjugated and mastered.

Sierra Leone today encompass all of these evils that Bob Kennedy spoke of. AWAKE CHILDREN OF SALONE!.
