Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry has refuted claims of hike in pump prices- petrol, diesel and kerosene.
They say they have never announced any change in the prices of petroleum products and that the stipulated price of Le 6,000 per liter stands.
They warned against any person or group announcing new prices without consultation with the relevant stakeholders, even as they assure that there is no reason for fear as there are enough petroleum products for commercial and private uses in country.
It is true rumours have been flying high that pump prices for petrol and diesel have increased from Le 6,000 per liter to almost Le 7,500.
Of course, this unfounded rumor has recently caused artificial scarcity of fuel in the market, which also has resulted in long queues at filling stations across the city, causing panic over stocking and unnecessary hike in transport fare.
It is in light of the aforementioned that the PRA and the ministry of trade have appealed to all media houses not publish or broadcast the announcement of new prices for petroleum products.
