Osman Boie Kamara (2012 flagbearer aspirant of the main opposition SLPP) yesterday broke his silence as he announced his interest for leadership in the ruling APC come 2018.
Usu asserted he is but a popular politician and that he has all it takes to lead the APC in the coming general elections.
He however denied assertions that he is in a poor health and can certainly not match up with physical condition expected of a presidential candidate during political campaigns.
“I am uprightly healthy and have been so over the years. My intention to lead APC is based on the fact that I am better placed in terms of governance and popularity,” Usu bragged.
It is true there has been number of APC heavyweights including Alpha Kanu, Alimamy Petito Koroma, Kelfalla Marah, Minkailu Mansaray, VP Bockarie Foh, John Bornoh Sisay, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, Osman Koroma, others showing interest in the leadership of the party.
This, no doubt, has seen many including intending aspirants making statements humiliating of other aspirants, of course, tagging them as ‘strangers,’ ‘mosquitoes,’ blah blah blah, which seemingly suggest that there is going to be serious divide in the APC if the wrong person is elected/selected/endorsed as leader of the party.
Lately, the gossip chat seems suggestive of the fact that the APC intends appoint a flagbearer unlikeable of especially older folks of the party.
It is still not known whether President Koroma will influence the appointment of his cousin, John Sisay, as next flagbearer of the APC.
