The Family of murdered Army Chief has accused the ruling All People’s Congress party of ‘dumping’ their relative at death.
Lt. Gen. Samuel Omar Williams who met his death by shooting in late December 2016, buried Sunday 8th January, wasn’t given the required burial rites as statesman and one who was the first to attain the rank of Lieutenant General in the Sierra Leone Army, disgruntled family members said.
Died of gunshots by unknown killers, his burial was reportedly abandoned by the ruling APC, a government he served diligently and as the biggest of Army Officer in the history of Sierra Leone.
Unlike late Morseray Fadika (businessman/politician), late Alhaji Unisa Alim Sesay (sport official/businessman), and late Tholla Thompson (Supreme Court Judge/PPRC Chair) who respectively enjoyed state’s funerals, Lt. Gen. (a very senior civil servant) disappointedly did not receive the expected meritorious burial rites from the ruling government.
And even though police say they are investigating his mysterious death, and have set aside a whooping fifty million for anyone helping them identify the whereabouts of the killer (s), things seems not showing positivity at all.
And as at his (Lt. Gen. Williams) assassination, there has been no affirmative information leading to the whereabouts of the killer (s) as the case may be.
Many say the late Army Chief’s death is centered on misgivings, which need proven by the police if fears of the gullible of society is to be allayed.
Findings by the New Age point to the fact the unknown assassin (s) released seventeen shots on the late man during the attack at his Devil Hole residence in the Western Area Rural District, a place believed to be notorious for housing bad boys.
Accusations that the ruling APC abandoned a fine statesman in the person of the late Army Chief have no doubt sent a wave of shock in minds of number of active civil service workers.
Unconfirmed reports have it that colleague Army officials have been left in ponder following treatment meted their late compatriot.
