John Sisay, one of APC would-be flagbearer aspirants Wednesday 25th rhetorically said: “APC cannot win an election without votes.”
He said he was saddened by the many deaths that have rocked the APC party in the recent past, but courageously sends condolences to bereaved family comrades.
That although they may have lost assuring votes owing to deaths of members, families of lost ones will not be forgotten because the APC is a family party, and will certainly have to look after person left behind by falling heroes.
Sisay urges all intending APC aspirants make efforts to galvanize their supporters, to enable them be a part of the voters registration process, which he said is but the only option to making the APC wins the coming 2018 elections.
“I am of the opinion I will lead the APC party. I have been making every effort to make people register within and outside Sierra Leone. I have, because I believe it is only then the party (APC) will have the opportunity to campaign and convince persons sitting on the fence vote us for continuity,” he claimed.
“This isn’t the time to campaign or talk politics, but the time to register so as to give everybody the right to participate in next year’s elections, of course, that’s what I have done over the weeks.”
He claimed President Koroma has set the wheel in motion for his successor, whom he said will certainly have to continue with his Agenda for Prosperity, to make Sierra Leone greater.
He said because he believes every election process starts at registration, he has had all the time of this world supporting the voters’ registration process financially and morally until every qualified Sierra Leonean registers before the 30th April extension recently expires.
“We can only win elections if we have enough votes. I don’t believe in regime change, but I believe in people’s vote.”
Shortly after the voters registration process commences, Sisay happily but questionably gave $100,000 to the membership of his party (APC) in a way helping bolster party loyalists ahead of the registration process.
This however left many in ponder, with some questioning Sisay’s reason for woefully dishing out almost a billion of Sierra Leone’s money to his party, not helping the helpless of society.
However, it is rumoured that his gesture to the party is linked to advice from strong party officials, who want his cousin, President Koroma, transfers leadership of the APC to him come 2018.
