The rate at which President Koroma’s Ministers are displaying wealth seems quite alarming; same has also been attributed as “unexplained wealth,” which in the laws of Sierra Leone is a crime.Just last week, country’s Information Minister, Mohamed Bangura literally confessed that the Ernest Koroma’s Free Health Care Initiative is but a sham and as such has compelled him spending huge money on his wife to enable her gives birth to their child in the United States.
Mohamed had earlier said, “if for any reason I am retired now or removed from office as a government Minister, people will not expect me use public transport but private vehicle,” of course, insinuating that as a state Minister, he should obviously be a rich man and not an underprivileged poor at all.
Also, Kemo Sesay, the Minister of Works, some months past, displayed a sum totaling 100 Million Leones at the Port Loko Town Hall as he generously offered same to people in a way encouraging them come out and register in the recently concluded registration exercise.
He is said to have further distributed over 40 Million Leone to people during the Eid holiday.
As we speak, there is an audio making the rounds on social media believed to be that of the voice of the wife of the current Minister of Transport and Aviation, Balongun Logus Koroma, which has generated debates on what she (The Wife) said on the audio.
“Ay bo mummy, eni how e be, if Logus take 50 thousand dollars na posin e hand, e able pay am back. Ar nor sae for yesterday oh, but for tidae, e go able pay am,” meaning that “no matter what, if the Minister of Transport borrowed $50,000 from anyone, he is certainly able to pay it back and at instant point.”
The audio which carries the voice of a woman stated that she has asked the Minister to respond, but that he told her that they should not respond to ignorant people.
“Those who know Logus will know that $50,000 is a plenty money, but it is nothing for him,” she revealed.
The audio was in response to a popular social media commentator, Alpha Saidu Bangura’s claims that the Minister of Transport owed a lady in the US $50,000.
