Some four hundred and thirty students have matriculated at the University Of MAKENI (UNIMAK).
The ceremony attracted national and international students from various parts of the continent who have enrolled in UNIMAK to get quality education.
Addressing Matriculants at the great auditorium of the college, Vice Chancellor Professor Joseph Alimamy Turay informed the students that University is committed to quality learning that addresses human, social, political and economic needs of the country.
He noted that UNIMAK will help develop their skills to expand the freedom and democracy of others and promote human dignity in them.
Reverend father Joe Turay also invited the matriculants to the experience and ambience of their made in Sierra Leone University, stressing that knowledge is liberating people from not only ignorance but poverty.
He informed the students that they at UNIMAK value God almighty, celebrate the local and promote the global, as he puts it, “at UNIMAK, Crisis are turned into opportunities.”
Bishop Natalio Pagnelli who doubles as Chancellor of the University welcomed the students to the UNIMAK family, noting that they are enrolled due to the necessary requirements they met.
He congratulated the students and encouraged them to do their best in their Academic achievements.
He admonished them to do their best and not disappoint their parents who in diverse ways have demonstrated love, support and concern for them to achieve success in their careers.
Chancellor Natalio Pagnelli said that the University of MAKENI is poised to enable students understand the holistic development of the person in the community and at the same time respect the environment.
Foday Bangura, Dean of students noted that as the students declared to be responsible membership of the University and promised by signing the matricula, they must make sure that their particulars are correct and also participate in legal students’ activities.
Matriculants applied for courses ranging from accounting and finance, Mass Communication, Law, Development Studies,
Human Resources, Public Health, Masters in Business Administration among others.
