Reports from the National Electoral Commission (NEC) dated 20 February 2018 have indicated that over 164,000 voters’ identity cards remained uncollecteds
According to NEC’s statistics, 29, 551 of Voters’ ID cards are still not collected in the Eastern Region and 22, 389 in the North.
The North West Region has over 30,880 Voters’ ID Cards still not collected and 28, 113 in the South.
Over 52,859 voters’ ID cards have not been collected in Western Area- Western Urban 33,748, Western Rural 20,051.
Whereas observers said that some people may have died while others sick, but was fumed at, it is now clear that almost 6% of the registered voters have not collected their Voters’ ID Cards, which according to them, will have an impact on the elections.
Others claimed that the fact that people are not collecting their Voters’ ID Cards means that they are not interested in the elections.
Some people have attributed the huge number of ID Cards that are not collected to over registration that was done by the ruling party to rig the elections.
NEC Boss Nfa Ali Conteh had earlier claimed if people fail to collect their cards, same will remain with NEC as properties of the commission.
